Art by Dirk Hays

Dirk Hays has been a fixture in the Atlanta art scene since 1982. While working in advertising, he designed the Atlanta Botanical Gardens logo, and did project work for the High Museum of Art. Hays taught himself to paint after becoming disillusioned with his advertising job,  began making art and has never looked back. Learning to tattoo in the 90’s, Hays eventually went on to own East Atlanta Tattoo for 14 years. He retired from tattooing about 3 years ago, taking up painting again full time.  His work is a reflection of the pop culture that he grew up loving, and his clients range from country music artists to restaurant chains to personal collectors. He currently works in his home studio in Ormewood Park, where he resides with his wife and pups.
